Walk about Zion, go around her, number her towers, consider well her ramparts, go through her citadels, that you may tell the next generation that this is God, our God forever and ever. He will guide us forever. – Ps. 48:12-14
In order to proclaim God to the next generation (children or new believers), we must first be ourselves convinced of His greatness, majesty, power and faithfulness. This doesn’t happen overnight, but requires us to diligently study and consider His works. Simply reciting and regurgitating theological head knowledge from previous generations is not enough; we need to see for ourselves; to know for ourselves; to live for ourselves.
And the wonderful outcome of this is to know God’s unbroken, unfailing and unending guidance in our lives (the Syriac and Vulgate texts have He will guide us beyond death).
