The Upturned Microscope 
“Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results” is NOT a defining symptom of clinical insanity. It is a falsity perpetuated by the circulation of that annoying quote.

Thanks for the link. I had my doubts too, which is why I didn’t use the term “defining”. And the article talks about perseverance, which is different to continuing the same course of failing action without any methodological change. In of itself, it’s not clinical insanity. But clinical insanity often manifests like that.
Finally, humour often plays on popular perception, even when that is not entirely accurate. This is one of those instances.
